The Artworld in 2021

What we might expect in the 2021 Artworld: It probably sounds counterintuitive, but despite the pandemic, the art market last year held up fairly well. Trophy art sold well overall, although few masterpieces were offered at auction. One notable trend was auction houses expanding substantially into the gallery world. Sotheby’s is now selling works from a select list of galleries. Auction houses are also selling numerous works privately.
